Members of the Seeding Succession Project steering committee from Maffra and District Landcare Network will discuss the seed collection and propagation project – with a section dedicated to the local knowledge of John Topp, our districts local native plant nurseryman. The session will include a hands-on seed propagation activity where participants will be able take local seeds home to raise.
The project by Maffra and District Landcare Network project aims to educate community members about plant identification, local seed collection and propagation. These seeds focused on the Ecological Vegetation Class type “Gippsland Plains and Grassy Woodland” species. Some of these included, Kangaroo and Wallaby grasses, native indigenous wildflowers such as chocolate and vanilla Lilies to name a few.
The aim is to create an ongoing legacy with this project through collection and propagation of seeds to go back into the community and for Landcare project into the future.
