Composting workshop at Nakunbalook
Celebrate International Compost Awareness Week with Wellington Shire Council and Seed Community Garden at this free workshop.

The average household in Victoria throws away $2,136 a year in wasted food – almost two thirds of which could have been eaten. Food and garden waste makes up nearly half of all household waste going to Victorian landfills.

Composting is an easy way every household can contribute to reducing waste, while improving soil locally. Sale Botanic Gardens’ curator and experienced horticulturist Tony King will teach participants how to return nutrients from otherwise wasted garden trimmings, clippings and food back to the garden.

The event will be held Tuesday, May 10, from 4pm until 5pm. The workshop is suitable for all ages, regardless of prior composting experience. Everyone who attends will go into the running to win a Hungry Bin Worm Farm, valued at $399. While it’s free to attend, registration is essential.
