The change of seasons has well and truly arrived during the King’s Birthday with rain and cooler conditions being then order of the day. Quite a change from the generally pleasant end to Autumn.
The garden is starting to take on the beautiful winter starkness as trees drop their remaining leaves and a few beds themselves begin the winter rest. I love the opportunity to see the tree’s frameworks against a clear sky during this time.
Not to say there isn’t colour or highlights within the garden including a lot of our native beds and trees starting to either set buds or flower later in the season. The Lemon Scented gum is covered in buds as I write this and will soon burst open.
The Elm Forest is looking spectacular with its carpet of leaves and the bulbs are starting to really come alive through the forest floor which will start to put on their display shortly. Take a moment to enjoy the serenity within the Elms during this time as it is still one of my favourite areas within the garden.
